Unitree Go2 Air vs Argos X1: Which Robot Is Right for Your UAE STEM Programme?
Two very different robots, both built for education — compared on hardware, learning outcomes, and which environment each one is designed for.
The Unitree Go2 Air and the Argos X1 are often considered side by side by schools and universities building out a STEM robotics programme. On the surface they look like they serve the same market — both are technically impressive, both are available through RoboHub in the UAE, and both are regularly used in education settings.
But they are fundamentally different machines, built for different kinds of learning. This guide breaks down what each one does, where it excels, and which one makes more sense depending on what your programme is trying to achieve.
One note before we begin: the Go2 Air is currently sold out. If you are interested in it, you can register your interest through WhatsApp and we will contact you when stock is confirmed. The Argos X1 is available now.

Unitree Go2 Air — Quadruped Robotics for Engineering and Exploration
The Go2 Air is a four-legged quadruped robot — the form factor that has become synonymous with advanced robotics in the public imagination. It navigates autonomously using a 4D LiDAR system with a 360° field of view, climbs steps up to 15 cm high, handles inclines up to 30°, and can be operated indoors and outdoors across uneven terrain.
For a STEM programme, the Go2 Air teaches real-world engineering concepts: how LiDAR maps an environment, how a robot maintains balance across 12 degrees of freedom, how sensor data drives locomotion decisions. Students control it through graphical drag-and-drop programming and a mobile app, making it accessible without requiring deep coding knowledge at the entry level.
It weighs 15 kg and can carry a payload of up to 7 kg, with optional add-ons including a GPS module, search spotlight, and robotic arm — which opens up additional use cases around inspection, load-carrying tasks, and field robotics demonstrations.
Four-legged quadruped robot with autonomous navigation via 4D LiDAR, 12 degrees of freedom, graphical drag-and-drop programming, HD wide-angle camera, and indoor/outdoor terrain capability. 1–2 hour battery life. Optional add-ons include robotic arm, GPS module, and search spotlight. 1 year of support included.
Register Interest →Argos X1 — Bionic Robot Dog for Interaction and Demonstration
The Argos X1 takes the opposite approach to the Go2 Air. Where the Go2 Air is built for terrain and autonomous movement, Argos X1 is built for human interaction — responding to voice and touch commands in under 50 milliseconds, moving through 13 preset movement sequences and 5 dance routines, and engaging audiences in a way that a quadruped robot cannot.
Its 13 degrees of freedom give it fluid, expressive movement. Dual ultrasonic sensors detect obstacles. The HD panoramic camera provides a wide field of view. And with LED lighting built in, it is designed to perform — in a classroom, at an exhibition, or in front of a school assembly. It operates comfortably on flat to moderate surfaces, indoors and outdoors.
The built-in programming for students covers dance moves and movement sequences — enough to introduce the concepts of joint coordination, timing, and choreographed control without requiring advanced coding from day one.
Bionic quadruped robot dog with voice and touch command response under 50ms, 13 movement presets and 5 dance routines, 13 degrees of freedom, dual ultrasonic obstacle sensors, HD panoramic camera, LED lighting, 2.5kg payload, and ~90 minute battery life. Suited to classrooms, demonstrations, events, and human-robot interaction research. 1 year of support included. AMC available for Year 2 at 12% of invoice value.
